Say YES to Summer

The YES Prep Credit Recovery Program is for students currently enrolled in 9^th – 11^th grade and is designed to help students regain credits, persist, stay on track to graduate, and go to college.  All core classes, including English, Math, Science, and Social Studies courses, will be offered, and world language courses will only be offered to Juniors.  Students must complete the program by June 16 to receive credit for the course by the last day.  Failure to finish or earn a passing grade will result in the student retaking the course next year and possible retention.

Who: Any high school student who failed one or more courses during the Spring semester of the 2021-2022 school year

WHAT?

We are excited to invite identified SY21-22 Grade 9 and 11 students to Summer Accelerated Learning. This is additional learning time for your student to allow them to be successful in the next school year. These classes are taught by YES Prep staff using YES Prep chosen curriculum. 

WHO?

If your student scored DID NOT MEETS (DNM) on their 2022 STAAR test on more than one or more of the tests listed below, their participation is REQUIRED:

• EOC Algebra I
• EOC Biology
• EOC US History

*EOC - End of Course

WHEN/WHERE?

• Location: YES Prep Eisenhower High School - 7922 Antoine Dr. Room 701, Houston, TX 77088
• Dates: Mon., June 13 – Fri., June 24 (Mon., June 20 is a holiday and there is no programming on Fridays. There are 7 total days.)
• Times: 8:30am – 3:30pm each day
  • PERIOD 1 - 8:30-11:50 AM
  • PERIOD 2 - 12:10-3:30 PM

This summer, students will have an opportunity to retake the STAAR EOC Tests for English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology, and US History.

Who: STAAR EOC Testing is required for all students in grades 9 - 11 who do not pass their STAAR exam.  

When: Testing will begin by 8:30am on the date of the test:

Tuesday, June 21, 2022	STAAR English I, US History
Wednesday, June 22, 2022	STAAR Algebra I, Biology
Thursday, June 23, 2022	STAAR English II
Friday, June 24, 2022	STAAR EOC Make-Ups

FOOD:

 Students can choose to eat breakfast and lunch provided by YES Prep free of charge or bring their own. Meal times are shown below-

BREAKFAST: 8:05-8:25 AM

LUNCH: 11:30-11:55 AM

TRANSPORTATION:

 We will offer bus transportation for all students that request it. Bus stops will be Community Hubs and will require parents/guardians to drop off and pick up students from the Community Hub stop. More information will be communicated the last week in May.
